(I’m rarely in the office during the day (or when I have a new litter of babies) since I do so much work with rescues, training and traveling to dog shows especially in the spring & summer months! Time with my dogs is the most important thing in the world to me-but after you have one of my babies I will be available for you! Please leave a message if you need to call but preferably email or leave your email address in the message since I can get my email almost anywhere and can reply at 3 or 4:00 am when I actually have time to spend in the office but isn’t the best time to call people since most people probably wouldn’t be too happy about a 4:00 am call :) I also like email best because I talk to so many people and get so little sleep that I can always go back to check what we talked about in case I forgot

Thank you for considering one of our precious puppies!

Also write under comments any additional information that you think may help me to decide in your favor such as if an adult is in the home all day or able to bring the puppy/dog to work with you, etc. Also put down in comments if you have a preference of sex & color, if you have no preference please put that in comments as well. I don’t know how many puppies or their sexes/color before they make their grand entrance, so I cannot guarantee that you will be able to get a particular sex or color.

1.)    Have you ever owned a French Bulldog before?

If not, what other dogs have you owned?

       (a)   Do you have any pets at this time?

If yes, what kind (cats, dogs-breed), how many & what are the ages & sexes of the dogs in the household and have they been spayed or neutered?

2.)    Have you ever given up a puppy/dog to a shelter?

      If so, explain the circumstances.

3.)  Do you plan on having this puppy/dog be a house pet?

4.) Would you be willing to commit to leash walking your puppy daily if your yard is not fenced in?

      photo

5.) Would the puppy be left home alone for more 4 hours at a time during the day?

6.) If you do work, do you have someone you trust to care for the puppy in your

absence or have you checked into responsible puppy day care?

9.) Do you have the necessary finances to properly care for a French Bulldog puppy?

**You will receive 60 days FREE pet health insurance with your new puppy J

10.) Do you have a pool at your home, and if so will you put in a rescue board and or keep your puppy away from the pool (French Bulldogs rarely are able to swim!)?

11.) If you currently have a veterinarian, or have used one for your pets in the past, could you please list their name/s & phone number/s?

12.) Are you willing to invest in professional obedience classes before the pup is six months old (this is also the safest way to socialize your pup & a great bonding experience) and have your puppy certified as a AKC Canine Good Citizen?

**I highly recommend positive reinforcement methods of training ONLY, if you would like a list of APDT (Assoc. of Pet Dog Trainers) in your area please just type in your zip code on the APDT website. APDT trainers use only positive reinforcement methods, anyone can call themselves a trainer & the wrong trainer can do irreparable damage to your puppy!

      photo

13.) Do you have any children, if so, what are their ages?

14.) If you do not currently have children but plan to in the future, would a child change the way you feel about or treat the puppy/dog?

*French Bulldogs adore children and are wonderful dogs to have your kids grow up with!

      photo

15.) Are you willing to “Crate Train” or "exercise pen" train your new puppy?

*Crate training means putting your new puppy in either a wire or plastic/Vari kennel OR a exercise pen (I recommend the Iris brand which you can purchase on amazon.com, and putting the puppy in the pen or crate when you are unable to watch them.

The same way you would put a human baby in a play pen when you are unable to supervise their activities. This is the absolute BEST way to keep your puppy safe! Puppies will naturally chew on things and it is common for them to have chewed through an electrical cord and die from electrocution, or to swallow a foreign body like a sock or a child’s small toy, or chew on plants that are poisonous, there are so many possibly hazardous things in a home, you wouldn’t let a baby free to roam the house without supervision, nor should you let a baby French Bulldog.

Also you are able to “house break” your new puppy very quickly this way, the puppy will rarely soil the area that he/she sleeps in (unless they have been left alone too long). This way the puppy doesn’t learn bad habits like urinating or defecating in the house, it is truly the best way to house break your new puppy and so much easier to teach them good habits from the beginning than trying to break them of bad habits when they are older!

Some people may think putting the puppy in a crate is cruel, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth…..dogs are naturally denning animals, and love this quiet space of their own,  long after the puppy has been house trained you will find they still want to sleep in their crate. I will leave the dogs doors open & they will go in their crate to take a nap or to chew a favorite bone, or just to get away from the chaos of a normal family. They aren’t any different than human babies, a person wouldn’t even consider leaving a human baby to roam the house without supervision!

This is the ONLY way you know your puppy is safe when you are unable to watch them! Ok…you’ve probably guessed I am a fan of crate training! I never recommend keeping a puppy crated all the time though! Only when you are unable to watch them, if that is more than 4 hours during the day, then it is too much!

16.) Have you done any research on the French Bulldog breed if you haven’t owned one before?

17.) What is your name & mailing address?

18.) What is your email address/s?

      19.) What is/are your contact phone number/s?

20.) Do you want a “pet” puppy or a “show” puppy?___________ (there is rarely a difference in the conformation of my puppies sold for pet as opposed to my puppies sold for show since I will not breed dogs that do not conform to the AKC standard for the French Bulldog breed!)

21.) What sex would you prefer?_________ If you don’t have a preference please check here______

22.) What color puppy would you prefer?________If you don’t have a color preference please check here________

23.) How did you hear of us:_________________________________________________

      24.) What is today date?________________________

25.) How long are you willing to wait for one of our very special puppies?________

Thank You Again for taking the time to fill out our puppy application, I will get back to you shortly, my life revolves around the care & needs of my dogs which doesn’t leave me much extra time so if you don't hear from me please shoot me a quick email to check on the status of your application :)

Many Wags, Suzan & The Bully-Gang

      Additional Space Sheet:

The cost of a puppy including all the extras and a life time of expert advice & support (which is priceless!): all vaccinations (Distemper/Parvo Complex, Bordatella-Kennel Cough), microchip implanted ID’s registered through AKC/CAR, worming, flea & tick preventative (Front Line Plus), Heart worm preventative (Interceptor or Heartguard Plus), Official AKC registration, AKC Certified Pedigrees, Puppy Go Home Kit with food samples, booklets on puppy care, CD’s with music for dogs, sound effects to continue sound desensitization, links to videos of your new puppy from birth to go home time, video clips of the puppy’s family, lots of family pictures, pedigrees, show win records, a CD with all the pictures I’ve taken of your puppy from the time of birth to the time your baby goes home, lots & lots of information on first aid, training, socialization & behavior, and loads more-basically anything & everything you ever need to know about raising a Frenchie puppy, DVD on me demonstration best methods to do basic & advanced obedience, recommended toys, bandannas, safe bones and other safe chews, and lots more included free in the puppy kit as well as a recommended size Vari Kennel (puppies flying home only) for your new baby to go home in and your puppy will have already been crate trained and litter box trained before going home to make your life & your puppy’s life a LOT easier! Also detailed instructions on potty training using a crate-the puppy will be used to eliminating in pine shavings (I train them to go to the bathroom in pine shavings and they can easily differentiate between pine shavings & carpet/flooring, this method works fantastic for house training!!) And you can put down pine shavings in your yard where you want your puppy to eliminate and they will go there automatically, that way you can save your lawn! J

A “Pet” puppy (meaning they are sold with an AKC limited registration which means they only cannot compete in conformation shows however are more than welcome to compete in AKC Rally-O, Obedience, Agility, and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program and I always recommend having your puppy train & test for certification as a Therapy Dog once they turn a year old! It’s a wonderful program and French Bulldogs make fantastic Therapy Dogs! The “Pet” puppy doesn’t  mean in any way that they are lacking, in fact I sell far more gorgeous “Show” quality puppies for “Pets” than anything else & want it that way, I don’t want one of my puppies to live the life of a typical show dog-away from home all the time, traveling, living out of a crate (although I firmly believe the use of a crate is the safest way to raise a puppy I never condone keeping a puppy or dog crated any longer than necessary & for puppies no longer than 4 hours max. except at bedtime when they first go home)

“Pet” puppies sell for $3000.00 less any deposits. And of course you will get almost 24/7 expert support in regards to your new puppy when they go home as well as throughout their life, “Show” Puppies are $3500.00 & the “Pick of the Litter” Puppy (male or female is $250.00 additional if the option is open for the litter you are interested in) which gives you first choice no matter what order your deposit came in).

      photo

I also take video of the babies from the time they are born and often even the birth as well, I send you links to videos of your puppy’s achievements like first opening his/her eyes, walking, first semi-solid mean, nursing on mom, playing with siblings, etc. as well as all of the photos I take of the puppies and I take a LOT of pictures! The dogs & puppies are my favorite subject to photograph! I also send home a DVD of all the pictures I take of your puppy from the day they were born on up till the day they go home so you have all their baby pictures as well as pictures of their family, copies of their pedigrees, etc.

The puppies are ready to go to their new homes at around 8 weeks of age. It is recommended to make arrangements to be able to spend a min. of several days at home with your new puppy while he or she acclimates to their new home, email me anytime to schedule a date & time to pick up your baby (plan on spending about an hour so we can go over all the paperwork, feeding schedules, general care, etc. and answer any questions you may have), but don’t worry, I will be available to answer any questions as often as possible regarding training, feeding, behavioral, medical, or any other questions you may have for the life of your puppy!

** I do fly the puppies within a certain distance within the US only and only during the cooler weather months however in the warmer weather you are always welcome to fly here to pick up your baby & bring them back in the cabin with your or I can have a special puppy nanny accompany your puppy in the cabin on the way home & meet you at any airport most convienient to you, this way I am  able to choose from a lot more people and don’t have to “settle” on someone just because they are within driving distance.  I use Continental Airlines who take extra special care of the puppies during their trip, I have to drive all the way to Portland, Maine to fly them out but I know the puppies will be very well cared for and you can check on them at any point during their trip home to see how they are doing! If you have access to a private plane there is an airport just 2 blocks from our house. Everyone who has ever gotten a puppy that was flown says they adjust very, very quickly, so it isn’t too traumatic for them at all. I socialize them well enough & try to get them used to all kinds of situations before they leave including playing over 900 different sound effects so they aren’t afraid of loud noised and are confident with new situations and they are able to adjust very quickly to new situations. They still will need reassurance & lots of love, they are in a whole new situation, this is the best time for bonding with your puppy, it is HIGHLY recommended to arrange to take several (or as many as possible) days off (if you work away from home) when your new baby arrives, or plan on a weekend. I will work with you to find the best time for your puppy to arrive.

Options to fly your puppy home:

** I do fly the puppies within a certain distance within the US only, this way I am  able to choose from a lot more people and don’t have to “settle” on someone just because they are within driving distance. I use Continental Airlines who take extra special care of the puppies during their trip, I have to drive all the way to Portland, Maine to fly them out but I know the puppies will be very well cared for and you can check on them at any point during their trip home to see how they are doing! I will work with you to find the best time for your puppy to arrive.

You are also welcome to fly into Bangor International Airport to pick up your puppy here in Maine & I'd be happy to meet you at the airport with your new baby & go over all the information & important documents with you there, I will ship your puppy kit home via USPS Priority mail since the puppy kits are pretty big or if you prefer you can take it home on the plane with you too but mostly people choose to have me ship it since it's easier and I have no problem doing that at all and will ship it free of charge to you.

The other option for those who have or have access to a private plan or helicopter you are more than welcome to fly into Pittsfield Airport here in town (it's within walking distance from our house).

        Note:

We are always accepting applications but the applications are usually not reviewed (unless requested) until we are expecting a litter of puppies, we will hang onto your application until we expect a litter of new babies then we'll carefully review your application. If your application is not approved we will let you know exactly why, in most cases it's usually because someone has decided on this breed from seeing a French Bulldog in a movie or commercial & not knowing enough about the breed. We want to make sure that you know as much as possible about this wonderful breed & know that they are going to be the perfect dog for you, your family & your life style. If your application is approved we will also let you know & send you a brief form to fill out letting us know a little more about your family, your life style & what color, sex, personality puppy that you think would best fit into your family, for instance if you have very young children you'd want a really mellow laid back pup, or if you had other dogs you'd want a easy going non dominant pup, I work very hard to find the perfect fit because a puppy is a commitment of love. Once you have one of our babies we will always be here for you to help you with training, answering any questions you might have, we never mind answering questions & we stand behind our babies for life, you will get a life time of support!

I will send LOADS of pictures & videos as your puppy grows and will copy all of the pictures I have taken since their first breath to the time they go home on a DVD for you so you have the full size high resolution pictures as well as pics of your puppies parents & other close relations as well :)

You are also more than welcome to schedule a visit, our dogs are not in a kennel they are all house dogs, I never saw any point to having a dog you did not live with and after all these years of seeing them interact with each other as a pack & with people they still never stop amazing me!

If your puppy application is approved, first congratulations because I am EXTREMELY picky about who gets one of my babies!!

We ask for a $400.00 deposit to hold a spot on the waiting list for you, if you find the timing is not right for whatever reason your deposit will be held for you & can be applied to a puppy from a future litter. The deposits are not cash refundable only applied to a puppy.
