Suzan,
I have a sister-in-law who has a 10 yr. old beagle.  She is very ill and can
not take care of her
dog.  My husband and I are trying to find a place for him? We already have 3
dogs and can not take
him.  Do you have any contacts with beagle rescue or do you have any
suggestions of us?  Any help
would be greatly appreciated.  She lives in St. Louis, MO.  We would be
willing to pay the charges to
get him to a rescue or home.  Thank you.

Yes, please do list my email and my phone number (281-242-8905).  The beagle
is a neutered male, 10 yr. old.  My husband, Eddie, is going to St. Louis
this weekend to check on his sister to see what can be done with her.  I
will have him take some pictures of Chester.  Thanks for any help.
Best,
Trina

FEMALE BULLMASTIFF (PUREBRED, AKC REGISTERED) FOR ADOPTION

I'll be adding a picture of her & more details shortly, she's 5 or 6 years old & comes from a good home and has only had one owner before, she doesn't get along with their terrier & it's been an on going battle apparently is the reason she's come into rescue.

She's in good health & will be microchiped, up to date on all vaccinations including Distemper/Parvo complex, Rabies, and Bordatella (Kennel Cough), she'll also have Front Line Plus put on to prevent fleas & ticks, a complete physical exam & blood work done to make sure she's completely healthy and a heart worm test done & started on the heartworm preventative.

If anyone in Maine, NH, MA, RI, or any other state that is within driving distance to Maine is interested in adopting Maggie please email me at: dextorr.bullmastiffs@verizon.net

If you are willing to help Maggie with a small donation or you can also help her by purchasing something on our "Stuff for big dogs" page for sale since all proceeds go to our rescue & other programs-thank you!

Maggie has been adopted, thank you to all of you who have emailed or called about her!

I typically have a good size waiting list for one of my rescues, occationally I will have a special needs rescue or a rescue that is available for whatever reason so if you would like to fill out an application for one of our rescued Bullmastiffs please just let me know (either email or call: 207-487-6042) and I'd be more than happy to email an application to you!

We would also greatly appreciate any donations since I support this rescue program myself, I don't like to take money without giving something in return so by buying any VetzPets Int. products or one of these really cute angel pins you'd be helping to cover the costs of feeding, medical care, vaccinations, microchip ID (I microchip all my rescues so they never end up in a shelter!) , spaying & neutering costs, behavioral therapy and obedience training, and toys, blankets, beds, etc. I don't care about buying jewelry, clothes, or stuff like that for myself, I drive a 14 yr old car and when I say all my money goes to the dogs I mean it literally!!!!

So any donation would be so very much appreciated!

WOOF!-THANK YOU!!!

Some of our rescued Bullmastiff’s stories:

My most recent rescue wasn't a Bullmastiff but a mixed breed found in it's yard choking to death on a chain choke collar. The poor dog had been chained to a metal pole in an area covered in dirt, she must have been so miserable she started going around in circles causing the chain to wrap around the pole & the choke collar on her to tighten. I just happened to be driving back from a show & caught her out of the corner of my eye, I frantically tried to loosen the chain around her neck but couldn't get my hand in it was pulled so tightly against her neck. She was starting to suffocate & had bloody foam coming out of her mouth. All I could do was to pick her up & take her around the pole to loosen the chain & collar, I finally got her out but she was in bad shape, having to perform CPR to get her breathing again, her tongue was purple. Instead of returning her to the home that she almost died at I took her home with me so she never had to go through anything like that again, she's recovering from a partially crushed trachea but doing great & is living with a wonderful couple who recently had to put their old dog to sleep, she is going to have a very happy life from here on out!

Don't chain your dogs outside, not only does it cause a lot of emotional problems it can cause some very dangerous physical problems as well!

"Until one has loved a dog, a part of their soul remains unawakend"

Penny my previous rescue bullmastiff is doing wonderfully in her new home! Penny was a dog that was neglected badly, she was basically tied out in a back yard & given food from time to time with very little human contact. She was scared of her own shadow when she arrived here, after just a couple of weeks she was so happy & so appreciative of someone who paid attention to her & showed her love that she responded so quickly, she was just a big love bug like the rest of my dogs when she left for her forever home, her is a picture of Penny with her boy, they just adore each other!

Sadly I heard from Penny's family not long ago telling me that she died of cancer, she fought a good fight and they did not allow her to suffer.

They thanked me for the time they had with her & the love that she brought to their family. Penny will be sadly missed and I'm so happy she had such a wonderful family that opened their home & heart to her to make her final years so wonderful after having such a horrible start with "people" who neglected her badly, I remember when she came to me afraid of her own shadow, just hair on bones & would duck her head down if I tried to pat her as though she had been beaten, it breaks my heart to see what some "people" (using that term very loosely) can do to a dog who gives nothing but love. Penny stayed with me for several months learning how to trust people again, when she left me she was a totally different dog, tail wagging all the time!

THE MEANING OF RESCUE

Now that I am home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed,
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry, so much to regret.

Hmm...Yes, there it is, right on the top,
Let's unpack loneliness, heartache, and loss,
And there by my leash hide fear and shame.
As I look on these things I tried to hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my baggage called pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough, for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things,
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage, to never repack?
I pray that you do, I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
Will you still want me?
